In this episode, I have the great pleasure of interviewing a special guest. Tahmina Watson is a Seattle based immigration attorney, podcaster and activist. For her community work, Tahmina was recently recognized as a 2020 Woman of Influence honoree by the Puget Sound Business Journal [PSBJ]. She is the founder of Watson Immigration Law and founder of the Washington Immigrant Defense Network.

Tahmina works with leading national publications as a commentator and columnist and speaks around the country on immigration law and social justice issues. She serves as a national spokesperson for the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the chair of the response committee of the Washington chapter of AILA.

Tahmina also serves as a trustee of the board of King County Bar Association in Washington, a past president of King County Washington Women Lawyers, and a former board member of both the Asian Bar Association of Washington and Washington Women Lawyers.

In addition to being recognized for her work by PSBJ, she’s a recipient of the 2019 AILa president’s commendation award. Difficult Conversations can help Launch your Progress ep. 33

Devin Williams is the host of the Sour Topics podcast for men’s mental health and self-help. He is also the blogger of Devinism.com a guide for millennial entrepreneurs. Devin is the father of 4 and lives in Maryland. I interviewed Devin on May 21, so we chat about coronavirus and its effect on his family. Because Devin is considered an essential worker, his routine hasn’t changed that much during coronavirus. Given the topic of Devin’s podcast, we also discuss difficult conversations.

Topics in this episode include work, marriage and separation, raising children, mental health, suicide and depression. Devin shares how he is taking action towards your dreams and he challenges men to a vulnerable act that can improve their marriage. However, this challenge can apply to anyone and any type of relationship.

Go to your partner and ask them what you can do better. And ask them what you are not doing. Give them the opportunity to say the thing that they hold back because they don’t want to cause trouble. Those are the things that cause problems. They carry into other situations and heighten the anger and discontent in your relationship.

Have you had a career change? Come chat with me about it on Changes BIG and small! Apply here.

Use a Growth Mindset to Learn Anything ep. 7

This week’s guest on Changes BIG and small is Praveen Selvasekaran. Praveen and I have a meandering chat, discussing some of the changes he’s made in his life, from moving away from home, to moving to Canada with his wife, where they are building their family. It’s impossible to resist Praveen’s energy, and hard to imagine how he survived months of not being able to communicate in school as a pre-teen.

Be inspired to make changes in your life. Listen til the end for two great book recommendations that have helped Praveen encounter change gracefully.
