Peel Back the Layers to Uncover your Authentic, Untamed, Wild Self

Today’s guest is Elizabeth DiAlto. Elizabeth has such great, fabulous energy. You can definitely tell that she is untamed and has been doing this work for some time because she speaks so confidently about her whole framework of self-awareness, self knowledge, self acceptance, self trust, and self respect, which are so important on our journey to living the life that we want.

Each of us can take actions and have behaviors and make choices. Those are the ABCs that you can learn more about from Elizabeth’s websites as well. Those contribute to the life that we create.

Elizabeth has invited us to look at the way that we talk to ourselves this week. And I hope you will take her up on that invitation. Where can you be a bit kinder to yourself this week? What can you notice? What can you name? What feelings do you experience that you can actually sit with? What can you observe and where do you need to soften?

In last week’s episode, the invitation was to tense and release the different parts of your body. And so if you continue these regular challenges, you start to see how the pieces fit together and how we can transform our lives by taking small, consistent actions.

How to Create a Personalized Money Mindset

The guest this episode is Mark Butler. Mark is the founder of the accounting startup Let’s Do The Books as well as the bookkeeper, CFO and confidante to top online entrepreneurs like Brooke Castillo. Before working in finance, mark co-founded three online businesses that brought in close to 2 million in total revenue. Today, Mark combines his business savvy with his certification in life coaching to help business owners take control of their finances and work through the shame and anxiety that almost always comes up when dealing with money.

One of the reasons I wanted to speak with Mark is because he has an expansive mindset around money, philosophy about money. And so, I hope that you will consider some of the activities to build your own habits, to find out what you believe about money, what your values are, and the relationship between your consumption and your earnings. As Mark says, it all starts with self-awareness.

How to Get to Know and Accept Yourself

Using Resistance and Resilience to Build Self Acceptance

The guest this episode is Dr. Seanna Leath. Dr. Leath and I have such a wide ranging conversation. We talk about black families, about mental health within the black community, about mothering and how Dr. Leath is currently thinking about that. A lot of her work is inspired by her own journey and because she’s done so much research, she has a lot of resources to share with us, of authors and papers that we can check to learn more about the topic.

The idea of the strong black woman is a common trope within black American culture, and so we spend some time looking at where that comes from and how it can be harmful to women and girls in the community.

How to Accept Your Body’s Imperfections

Have you ever found yourself hiding something about yourself? Perhaps you take photos showing only one side of your body, or you only share headshots to social media. If so, you will related to today’s guest and her invitation will help you accept and reveal yourself.

Beverley Mapagany currently works as an Account Payable Administrator but she strongly believe that she has come to this world to be a beacon of light to those who are struggling with accepting their bodies and who are not free because they are afraid they are not how the world tells them they should be. She has recently embarked on a journey of being a Body Image Activist.

We’ll continue exploring this topic over the next few weeks. Today, in addition to Beverly’s invitation to look in the mirror and speak to yourself with kindness, with love. I would also invite you to do some journaling, to do some reflecting, to do some thinking about what is the part of you that you’re hiding away, hiding away from yourself and hiding away from others. Reflect on this and as the weeks go on, I will be sharing some additional invitations, some additional challenges and resources with you so that you can make progress on this journey of self acceptance as well.
